Whether it be for defensive purposes (the Great Wall of China) or to evoke a state of transcendence (La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain), stone, as a building material, has dramatically affected the human experience on planet Earth for thousands of years. Even in today's world - fraught with toxic, cheap building materials, phony stone products, poorly-built structures and dismal designs - stone still resonates with each of us.
